"Head and Heart"
I would say in leading it takes a certain combination of "head and heart"
instinct. You have to make intelligent, forthright decisions that best serve your
organization, which are always tempered by a touch of empathy, compassion, or feeling where
appropriate.
This is not about an ethereal "touchy-feely" sense. It's just following
your intuition as well as your intellect. The question should be asked: What is the best
decision for an organization and its growth?" And: "How will this decision affect the
individuals who exist within and without that organization?" Usually that will help direct
the balance in the decision making!
