Retired Chairman, CEO and President of the State Auto Insurance Companies. Following his retirement on December 31, 2000, he formed his own firm where he is involved with insurance company mergers, acquisitions and capital formation. He is also a public speaker on the topics of leadership, selling value, and trends in the property/casualty insurance industry.
During his leadership tenure, State Auto added several new companies to the corporate umbrella. He was instrumental in taking the Company public in 1991through the formation of State Auto Financial Corporation. Sales rose from $214 million to more than $1 billion. Through Bob's high profile leadership, the accomplishments of the organization have been noted in publications by Tom Peters, the co-author of the best selling books on business management, In Search of Excellence, A Passion for Excellence, and others.
He entered the insurance business in 1958 and is a graduate of Pittsburgh (Kansas) State University. He teaches leadership at Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. Bob has been active on numerous board and trade associations. He is a member of the National Speakers Association. He is the epitome of a dynamic involved leader!
